There are very few salons lucky enough to have it all – fab
location, great décor, a lovely team of techs and a growing
stream of loyal clients. But The Nail Lounge is all this and
more.
Opened in December last year, The Nail Lounge is the latest
addition to a funky new complex of boutiques, bars and clubs
just off London’s infamous Carnaby Street. Kingly Court,
of which the The Nail Lounge occupies the prestigious number
one address, epitomises London cool. It is all chrome and glass – very
West End chic – and The Nail Lounge is in the privileged
position of having a stream of clients right on its doorstep
whose jobs actually demand perfectly manicured hands. Media luvvies
from the nearby National Magazine Company (home to Cosmopolitan
and Harpers and Queen) and Condé Nast (Glamour and Vogue)
regularly pop in for treatments, and The Nail Lounge has also
benefited from being right opposite a private members club.

“The club has been very good to us,” says Sarah
Legall, The Nail Lounge’s manager. “They host loads
of celeb parties and they’ve been really good about promoting
us to club members.”
And having friends in high places is
proving extremely valuable in a complex where, says Sarah, “leaflet
drops are no good because you rarely get past the company’s
security.”
Although promotion of the salon has been extremely important
to Sarah in its formative days, the phone is constantly going
with people looking for appointments and you get the impression
that The Nail Lounge has already managed to carve out a first-rate
reputation. And unlike most salons, this reputation isn’t
based purely on its techs offering excellent service, it is based
on the whole package. |
