Take the salon itself for example. It is small,
but at no point do you feel like there isn’t enough space.
The ground level is home to three nail stations, a reception
desk and a small seated area where clients can sit and sip complimentary
tea, coffee, water or wine while they wait for their polish to
dry.
Perhaps its best feature however is the huge glass
shelving which fills one wall of the salon and is home to what
Sarah calls the Chanel looking Essie polishes, Creative retail
products and gorgeous striped gift boxes. Such shelving wouldn’t
be out of place in a bar stocked full of optics and bottles and
indeed, a funky bar is perhaps the best comparison for The Nail
Lounge’s décor.
So does this fab look come with
an extortionate treatment price tag? No, is the simple answer.
A basic manicure is prices at £16.00
which can be customised with an extra such as a paraffin wax
treatment or additional massage for just £3.00 – bargain!

Comfort
and joy
A deep red is the corporate colour and aside from
being used for the furniture, is also the predominant colour
on the signage and literature (for which the owners commissioned
a designer to produce copyrighted images which appear on the
appointment cards and leaflets).
“The owners wanted to
create a relaxed atmosphere and that’s why
the chairs are more like the type of seating you’d find in a bar,” Sarah
comments.
“Some salons can be quite clinical, but the emphasis here is very much
on comfort.”
Yet the comfort isn’t at the expense of
practicality. The light wood nail stations have been bespokely
designed to be both stylish and functional.
Towels can be stored in a concealed shelf at the side for example, while files
and tools are within easy reach in the two drawers at the other end. Given
the lack of storage space overall, being able to pack everything away yet still
have it close to hand ensures techs can do their job while also keeping the
salon clutter-free. |
